Local level election security plan approved

Kathmandu, March 1: The meeting today of the central security committee approved the local level election security plan 2073/74.

The meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi endorsed the plan developed for the local elections scheduled for May 14. As per the plan, all the 226,000 security personnel in the three security bodies of the state would be mobilized for the election.
On the occasion, Home Minister Nidhi directed the heads and representatives of all security agencies to start making preparations as per the plan.
Present at the meeting were Home Secretary Lok Darshan Regmi, Defense Secretary Sridhar Sapkota, acting IGP of Nepal Police Dr Dinesh Chandra Pokharel, IG of Armed Police Singha Bahadur Shrestha, head of National Investigation Department Dilip Regmi and Major General of Nepal Army Baldev Mahat.
