Trishuli, March 18: The orthodox tea which was being prepared by crushing with the farmers’ hand is now being readied through the use of modern technology in Nuwakot district.
A high-tech tea processing equipment has been installed at Kimtang-based orthodox tea production centre with support from the National Tea and Coffee Development Board (NTCDB).
The farmers have invested Rs 400,000 in cash for the procurement of the equipment while the centre provided Rs 1.2 million.
Chairman of Orthodox Tea Farmer and Tea Production Centre Som Bahadur Tamang said that the tea processing equipment would help in the commercial venture of the farmers of Kimtang, Bungtang, Deurali and other surrounding areas.
Currently, a high as a dozen farmers have opted for commercial tea farming in Nuwakot district. RSS
