Itahari, March 25: The hailstorm coupled with rain occurred last night in different parts of Sunsari and Morang district caused heavy damages on crops and others.
Crops worth Rs 10 million plus is estimated to have damaged due to the hailstorm and rain, according to the victims. The wheat which was almost ready for harvesting and the maize plants were also damaged after the incident.
Similarly, the hailstorm has caused damages to a large quantity of food crops and fruits.
Bir Bahadur Poudel of Sundarpur-4 said that the hailstorms that occurred on Friday was intense than that of 45 years ago.
Some houses were also damaged after the hailstorm while a large number of birds have also died, it is reported.
Chief District Officer of Sunsari Gopal Prasad Parajuli said that a meeting of the District Natural Disaster Rescue Committee would be conducted soon after the reports of damages were received.
