Kathmandu, Sept 4: Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki has said the State-run media houses would be strengthened for competition and professionalism.
During a meeting with the employees affiliated to the trade union organizations from the National News Agency (RSS), Nepal Television, Gorkhapatra Corporation, Nepal Telecom, and Radio Nepal at his office on Sunday, Minister Karki said, “People would be practically benefitted when the government bodies were capacitated and made competitive.”
He directed the organizations’ representatives to come up with work plans on how their media could be made more professional and competitive. “I’m ready to work collaborate with all sides,” he committed.
Minister Karki further said he was ready to extend any support from the Ministry for the dissemination of reliable and positive news and information to the public.
On the occasion, corporation’s national committee chair for Nepal National Employees’ Organization, Jay Bahadur Sahi, said the Ministry should pay special attention to strengthen government media.
The Minister was briefed by the organization people on the situation of their respective media.
