Kathmandu, Sept 6: Nepali leg spinner Sandeep Lamichhane is to play the 2016-17 season with the Premier Grade Cricket Club, Western Suburbs of Australia.
The club is led by former Australian Captain Michael Clarke, who is sponsoring the 16-year-old Lamichhane to attend the Michael Clarke Cricket Academy, according to a statement released by the Western Suburbs District Cricket Club Tuesday.
Michael had met Sandeep in Hong Kong in late May earlier this year while playing a T20 cricket tournament, where he reportedly recognized Sandeep’s outstanding potential. The statement also quotes Michael as saying “It is really exciting opportunity to have such a talented Nepali cricketer travel this distance to come and test his skills and improve his game at my academy”.
Sandeep will attend a five-day live in camp starting September 26. He will also join Michael on the cricket field in the first match of the season when Wests play Mosman on September 24 at Allan Border Oval, adds the statement. RSS
