Kathmandu, Sept 11: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has pledged to ensure rights of indigenous nationalities, dalits, women and other oppressed communities through the constitution amendment.
During his meeting with a delegation from the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, on Sunday, the Prime Minister said the government was working on a proposal meant for establishing the rights of these people.
The Prime Minister said the constitution might have not addressed complete rights of the entire oppressed community as those forces fighting for their rights became relatively weaker after the second Constituent Assembly elections.
On the occasion, the delegation submitted a memorandum to the Prime Minister, demanding guarantee of proportional representation in every state apparatus, recognition of ethnic rights as fundamental rights in the constitution including others. RSS
