Saptari, Sept 14: A woman was killed after being bitten by a snake at Lalapatti-9 in Saptari on Tuesday. Local resident Bechani Devi Mandal, 55, was bitten by a snake while collecting fodder in her farmland, local people said.
With this, the number of snake-bite deaths in the district has reached seven in the one month alone. Likewise, more than 200 people who suffered snakebite received treatment at Rajbiraj-based Gajendra Narayan Singh Sagarmatha Zonal Hospital alone in the period, a hospital source said.
Five to six snakebite patients visit the hospital on a daily basis, it added.
Following this, the number of snakebite incidents is assumed to have increased in the district this year.
Likewise, other health institutions in the district are reported to be receiving snakebite patients. RSS
