Kathmandu, Sept 14: The United Kingdom (UK) has provided an assistance of 85 million Pound Sterling to Nepal for the reconstruction of the health infrastructure devastated in the 25 April 2015 earthquake.
The assistance was provided by the UK government’s Department for International Development (DFID) under Nepal Health Sector Reform Programme for around four-and-a-half year period.
At a programme organized at the Ministry of Finance Wednesday, Chief of International Economic Cooperation Coordination Division and Joint Secretary at Finance Ministry, Baikuntha Aryal, and Deputy Head of DFID-Nepal, Mark Smith signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
Of the total assistance, 57 million Pounds would be spent for Health Service Department through on-budget channel (Red Book) and 28 million Pounds would be allocated under the category of technical assistance.
Earlier, Nepal and UK governments had signed aid agreement of 10 million Pound Sterling on September 2015 immediately following the earthquake. RSS
