Kanchanpur, Sept 15: With the Dashain festival approaching, police have stepped up security along the border with India in the district. The action follows the reports of cross-border crimes including lootings, smuggling of illegal goods, arms and drugs and other criminal activities especially during festivals.
Police from Area Police Office, Belauri has said security personnel have been deputed on the border area round- the-clock to avert any untoward incidents before and during the festival.
Police have been mobilised both in plain clothes and uniform to maintain security after identifying the potential areas for unwanted activities, said Inspector Bharat Chaudhary.
“Indian security personnel have also coordinated with us,” he said, adding police patrol the sensitive areas regularly. RSS
