Closed session of NWA’s convention begins

Kathmandu, Sept 15:Closed session of the third general convention of Nepal Women’s Association ( NWA), a sister wing of Nepali Congress (NC) currently underway in the Capital from September 14, has begun.
The session that started from 11 am today at Bhrikutimandap, is said to be discussing and endorsing reports on politics, organization and audit of the organisation.
Meanwhile, the election committee has made public the election schedule. According to the schedule, candidacy registration will start from 1 pm today while time between 1 to 3 pm is set to register nomination.
Likewise, objection over nomination will be claimed by 3:30 pm while time between 3:30 to 4 pm is fixed to inquire about the objection. And withdrawing candidacy will be done between 4 to 8 pm.
Thereafter, the final name-list of the contesting candidates will be published, said the election committee member Keshab Niraula.
Likewise, the election is scheduled to take place from Friday at 9:30 am to 2 pm. The election will pick 51 members according to the provincial structure.
Meena Pandey and Uma Regmi have announced their candidacy to run the organisation for the next two years.
Regmi is from NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba camp while Pandey from senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel. A total of 2,165 representatives from around the country have participated.
Founded on August 8, 1947, the organisation has witnessed its general convention held just two times so far (first in 2048 BS and second and previous in 2064 BS). Founding President of the organisation was the late Mangala Devi Singh. Currently, Dr Dila Sangraula heads the organisation. RSS
