Sustainable journalism to heed journalists’ rights: Dr Rijal

Palpa, Sept 15: Nepali Congress leader Dr Minendra Rijal has said the people involved in journalism should be provided the atmosphere conducive for their profession. For this, journalism should be sustained, he added.
Inaugurating the national gathering of Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) here today, leader Dr Rijal said the provision of minimum wage to journalists should be implemented.
Secretary and publicity department chief of the CPN-UML, Yogesh Bhattarai, said as the journalism is the public parliament, its role on nation building was significant. “Implementation of code of conduct by the journalists help them make journalism more professional,” he underscored.
Politburo member of the CPN (Maoist-Centre) Basant Kumar Sharma pointed out the need that journalists could inform people about the activities of the government.
Former minister Som Prasad Pande said unity among all can wipe out problems in journalism.
FNJ Chairman Dr Mahendra Bista and the former chairpersons as Dr Suresh Acharya and Dharmendra Jha and Coordinator of Minimum Wage Fixation Committee, Poshan KC, also underscored the need of providing minimum wage to journalists. RSS
