During an interaction organized by the Association on ‘Issues of Dalit Women and Media’s Role’ here Friday, Association Chairperson Kala Swarnakar sought positive role from the media against social ills as caste discrimination and untouchability.
“From the very local level, Dalit women should be brought to political leadership. It paves way for further empowerment of Dalit women,” she underscored.
Similarly, Dalit women rights defender Renu Sijapati said Dalit women are the most oppressed people in Nepali society. Along with the implementation of the laws, public awareness is equally important to end caste discrimination and untouchability, she added.
