Govt. planning to task Nepal Army with constructing Benighat-Arughat-Larkebhanjyang road

Gorkha, Oct 23: The government is all set to give the responsibility of constructing Benighat-Arughat-Larkebhanjyang road section to Nepal Army.
Defense Minister Balkrishna Khand and Minister for Physical Planning and Transport Ramesh Lekhak and lawmakers representing from the area inspected the construction areas in this connection on Sunday.
At an interaction organized at Sanagaun of Gorkha, Minister Khand said that NA has been contributing for the national development maintaining the national sovereignty and integrity. “NA has huge experience of constructing long roads in each kinds of geography across the country. And this section- Benighat-Arughat-Larkebhanjyang road- would also be completed by the NA,” he stressed.
The section is nearly 180 kilometres long and track has been opened for 62 kms so far.
As per the legal provision, the NA only could store the explosive materials required for the construction of rocky road section, allocating the responsibility of constructing this section of road said to be fruitful.

On the occasion, Minister Lekhak said though the area was located in the remote place, there were huge potentiality of agriculture and livestock.
Sharing the information that preparation to give responsibility for the construction of Benighat-Larkebhanjyang road to Nepali Army is in final stage, he said, “We will not let budget crunch for it.”

The Physical Infrastructure Ministry has made agreement tasking Nepal Army with the construction of this road section as most of the place is quite rocky.

Meanwhile, the locals here have demanded border check point with Tibet be opened and made it systematic.

Complaining that they have failed to get health facilities for lack of road facility, Headmaster of Gauri Shankar Primary School, Bir Bahadur Lama, said that the government should pay attention in construction of physical infrastructures to unlock the potential of tourism.

Chief of Road Construction Project, Prem Prakash Khatri, lauded that it was good to assign Nepali Army for the road construction as there would be lengthy process to initiate the construction from the Department.

Present on the occasion were parliamentarians—Chinkaji Shrestha, Kamala Panta, Bahadur Singh Lama and Chham Bahadur Gurung, member of National Planning Commission, Swornim Wagle, Finance Secretary Shantaraj Subedi, among others.

Similarly, the high-level government team had also carried out onsite visit of 17-km Mailung-Syaphrubesi (Rasuwa) road section.
