Bardibas, Oct 24: The Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), Bardibas Distribution Centre on Sunday took action against 21 individuals found to be involved in electric power hooking in Mahottari district.
A joint team of NEA, Bardibas Distribution Centre, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force (APF) arrested 21 persons from Premnagar in Bardibas Municipality – 8 and Ramnagar of Bhangaha – 4 for stealing electricity.
They were fined Rs 5,200 each and freed on late Sunday night under condition they will pay the due bill and not opt for electricity theft in the coming days, Centre’s Chief, Sanjeev Sharma said.
The power transformers in the district have repeatedly burst and caught fire as increasing electricity hooking tends to send the transformers into overdrive. RSS
