Parliamentary team inquires into women entrepreneurs’ business



Myagdi, Oct 25: A parliamentary team on Monday took stock of the women entrepreneurs’ ground situation in Myagdi.

The team – comprising five lawmakers and officials of the Ministry of Industry – led by Legislature – Parliament’s Women Entrepreneurship Development Sub Committee Coordinator, Chhaya Sharma, inquired into the state of small and cottage industries operating in the district.

The team will prepare reports on ground situation of the industries run by women entrepreneurs and policy level difficulties in course of operating the business. It will also hold interaction on possibilities and carryout necessary inspection and later submit the reports at the parliament and Industry Ministry.

The team also inspected the Himali Allo Kapada Industry at Hadebhir of Benapa – 4 and the Saughat Koseli Ghar established for sale of products of the small and cottage industry entrepreneurs based at Beni’s Ganeshtole.

The Himali Industry Chair, Bishnu Gurung, told the visiting team members that their living standard had reformed considerably after getting involved in the small and cottage industry. He also took the opportunity to complain that not everyone was receiving the facility entitled from the state as the registration process was too onerous.

Gurung urged the team to support the small and cottage industrialists by helping to formulate a policy to allow them loan under concessional interest rate and provide technical support.

A total of 2,038 individuals have gained skill-based and income-generation trainings after the small and cottage entrepreneurship development programme started in Myagdi a decade ago and among them 1,307 are currently on active duty, a data with District Small and Cottage Entrepreneurs Group showed.
