Rolpa, Oct 25: The Rolpa prison inmates are suffocating under overload and the derelict conditions of the prison house.
The prison with the capacity to house 35 male inmates is currently crowded with 67 inmates. In women’s ward, there are three juveniles and 10 women, prison guard, Hukum Budha Magar said.
“The problem arises during the night as we have to accommodate 10 – 12 inmates in a single room,” Magar said.
The women prisoners have appealed to the Chief District Officer and the political party leaders to provide them with sewing machines, but the demand has fallen on deaf ears. The prisoners have complained that the prison authority closes down the toilets during the night due to which they are forced to relieve themselves in a bucket. RSS
