Jhapa, Oct 28: Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA)’s Antarmani Distribution Centre has put in place a special campaign to check increasing power leakage in the district.
Bearing in mind the maximum leakage of electricity during the festive time, the NEA has initiated the campaign to that end.
The campaign has been in place since last Thursday as the electricity transformers are more likely to have technical glitches during festival time due to power leakage, said Centre Chief Rajib Kumar Singh.
Under the campaign, a huge catche of electronic instruments requiring high voltage such as electric meters, motors used in mills and water lifting motors have been recovered from Khudunabari, Shanishchare, Champapur, Surunga, Dahijhanda, Jukekhadi and Durgapur of the district, Singh informed.
He further shared that a motor has been recovered from Khudunabari when electricity was being hooked for the operation of a mill. Likewise, police seized 26 meters from the houses in night where power theft was visible.
Also recovered were three big motors used for irrigation. The monitoring team has also seized three motors including one big and two small.
The team has also recovered sound system, rice cooker and black wire from homes for hooking electricity.
Seizure of electric devices took place int he first phase, he said, adding legal action would be sought if such found repeatedly.
