Kathmandu, Nov 7: Nepal Army (NA) has provided over Rs 61 million 713 thousand 783 to construct the Dharahara (Bhimsen Tower).
The Dharahara was demolished in last year’s Gorkha earthquake.
NA chief Rajendra Chhetri handed over a cheque of this amount on Monday to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal at a programme organised at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar.
The amount would be deposited in the account opened for collecting the fund to construct the tower. While receiving the cheque, PM Dahal thanked NA for its support to construct the Dharahara saying that the effort has conveyed positive message to all.
PM Dahal further shared that the government was also searching alternative resources to construct the Dharahara.
On the occasion, NA chief Chhetri while providing the cheque, said that the amount was collected from the NA rank and file aimed at contributing in national pride projects.
The then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli had called the public to support to construct the Dharahara under the slogan of ‘I will build my Dharahara myself.’ RSS
