Govt.’s decision to ease grant agreement process

Kathmandu, Aug 30: The government has taken an important decision to ease the grant agreement process at a time when people have been complaining about delay in the disbursement of the housing grant for the earthquake survivors.
According to the Urban Development Ministry, the government decided to give authority to the National Reconstruction Authority to authorize the engineers deputed at the earthquake-hit areas for signing agreement and addressing complaints.
After the ministerial decision of Urban Development Minister, Arjun Narsingh KC, there would be significant contribution in implementation of the Prime Minister’s commitment of providing the amount of first installment to quake victims within 45 days, it is learnt.
Earlier, the NRA had demanded to give authority for grant agreement to engineers deputed on contract basis as agreement was not signed in most of villages for lack of VDC secretary.
The Ministry has deployed 1,348 technicians to collect data and technical task at quake affected areas. Now, the deployed engineers would carry out works of grant agreement in VDCs lacking secretary. RSS
