International Watercolour Festival ends on a high note

Kathmandu, Nov 11: The International Watercolour Festival concluded on Thursday and successfully with participation of artists from 39 countries around the globe.

The festival had kicked off on Nov 3 at Nepal Art Council in Babarmahal organized by International Watercolour Society – Nepal Chapter.

Art works of a total of 156 artists from 39 different countries including Nepal, India, China, Thailand, Malaysia, Spain, Australia, Myanmar, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Turkey, Indonesia, Finland, Greece, Czech Republic, Bulgaria, Belarus and Singapore were on display during the fest.

As part of the festival, an art workshop was also held in Dhandruk of Kaski. The artists were also taken on tours of Hanumandhoka, Swoyambhu, Bhaktapur’s Changu Narayan temple among other world heritage sites within Kathmandu valley to promote Nepal’s art and culture.

On their part, the artists were quick to paint the picture of the heritage sites so as to contribute towards the reconstruction of the quake-damaged historic and religious heritages.

International Watercolour Society – Nepal Chapter President, NB Gurung, said the international artists exchanged their experiences during the festival.

Senior artist, Rajesh Manandhar, expressed belief that the festival would help publicize the use of watercolour in painting. The Society has now fanned out into at least 80 countries in the world. RSS
