Myagdi, Nov 11: The historic tourist destinations at Dadhekot and Dholesthan located at Beni Municipality – 12 are awaiting conservation.
The then Kingdom of the Malla kings during the Baise – Chaubise princely state-era, Dadhekot and Dholesthan royal palaces, courthouses, tunnels and walls have turned into decrepit remains of the ancient vintage due to lack conservation efforts, locals have complained.
Local resident, Yam Bahadur Baniya, said the concerned authorities have turned a blind eye towards the urgency to conserve the historically important heritages.
The historic sites are located at an elevation of 2,000 meters above sea level offering spellbinding views of the Dhaulagiri, Annapurna, Machhapuchhre and Nilgri mountains of the Himalayan range along with the view of sunrise and the pristine rural settlement below.
The temples and statues of Gods and Goddesses built within the Dadhekot royal palace premises have taken on worn-out appearances due to lack of conservation.
If the palace can be conserved and the trek route and religious destinations of the region publicized, it could be developed as a tourist hotspot, Baniya added. RSS
