Ilam, Aug 31: Ilam District Court has handed a jail term of 16 years for a young man who was charged for raping a minor girl in the district.
A single bench of judge Nawaraj Dahal gave the verdict of 16-year imprisonment to 22-year-old Surendra Rai alias ‘Suren’ of Sulubung-2 in Ilam district.
He was convicted of repeatedly raping a 12-year-old girl. The court has proclaimed that the victim will get Rs 75,000 as compensation, according to Jagadish Bhattarai, the record keeper at District Court Ilam. RSS
