Supposedly the biggest fair of the district, the Gaurati Bhimeshower Fair came to an end after a chariot carrying the idol of Bhimsen, the guardian deity, was towed around the market and reunited with the idol of Bhimeshower.
The Fair, beginning from the full moon day continued throughout the night for three consecutive days and drew as many as 60,000 to 70,000 visitors, according to the Trust Chief Tek Bahadur Shrestha.
Sales and consumption of alcohol sales were restricted to designated areas during the Fair. As the security was beefed up for the shrine and the market area, no untoward incidents were reported, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Shyam Krishna Adhikari.
As per the tradition, although the Fair marked its conclusion yesterday, the villagers will continue with the festivity by offering ‘ Pancha Bali’ (sacrifice of five animals) every full moon day and play traditional musical instruments till Nepali month Falgun, locals said. RSS
