Lalitpur, Nov 19: Vice President Nanda Bahadur Pun has drawn attention of the government and stakeholders to speed up reconstruction of the heritages devastated by the earthquake in 2015.
At a programme organized by Bouddha Bihar Sangh on the occasion of its 41 annual general meeting here on Saturday, he said the heritage reconstruction should not be prolonged anymore as the devastation has elapsed one and a half years.
The secularism guaranteed by the constitution is the big achievement of the decade, he added. “The new Constitution has bestowed right to every citizen to protect and promote their culture and religion”.
He urged all Nepali citizens to acknowledge and respect the identity of religion and culture of one another.
The Bouddha Bihar is the heritage of the world not merely of Nepal, he said. adding, “It is the matter of pride for us to have Gautam Buddha born in Nepal and such monasteries locating in our country”.
The Vice-President is of the view that Nepali people should not wander anywhere in seeking peace as adopting Buddha’s teaching is enough for attaining lasting peace.
Bouddha Bihar Sangh Chairperson Pushpa Ratna Shakya demanded the government’s higher attention to protect and preserve monasteries in Nepal. “Many previous things have been stolen from monasteries in absence of security”, he said. RSS
