NEW DELHI, Sept. 1 : (Xinhua)– U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry has extended his stay in India, officials said. Kerry who arrived in New Delhi on Monday evening on a three-day visit to India was scheduled to leave for Washington late Wednesday.
Foreign media reports quoting U.S. State Department spokesman Mark Toner saying on Wednesday Kerry would remain in the Indian capital until Friday or Saturday for the summit in China’s city of Hangzhou.Kerry would join U.S. President Barack Obama in Hangzhou city for the G20 summit this weekend. The summit is scheduled to take place on Sept. 4 and 5.
“Kerry’s schedule for his remaining time in India is still to be determined,” Toner was quoted as having said.
Kerry along with U.S. Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker on Tuesday co-chaired the second U.S.-India strategic and commercial dialogue in New Delhi along with Indian Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Nirmala Sitharaman.Karry also met Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
