Kathmandu, Sept 2: Nepal Rastra Bank Governor Dr Chiranjivi Nepal today said that action should be taken against those banks and cooperatives that are not in a position to save people’s savings.
Inaugurating Vibor-Society Development Bank in the Capital, the bank into which Vibor Bikas Bank and Society Development Bank merged, he said, “People’s savings should be saved. Otherwise, there would be no faith of people on banking institutions.”
Claiming that the role of central bank has strengthened with the approval of the Nepal Rastra Bank Act, 2058, he stressed the need of focusing on financial discipline.
The merged bank has now around Rs 181 billion capital, said the bank’s executive officer Jhalak Khanal. RSS
