Ambassador Bhattarai presents letters of credence to Venezuelan President

Kathmandu, Sept 6: Permanent Representative to the UN, Durga Prasad Bhattarai, presented his letters of credence as Ambassador of Nepal to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, amidst a special function held at Presidential Palace in Caracas on Monday.
On the occasion, Ambassador Bhattarai conveyed the best wishes and greetings of President Bidya Devi Bhandari for the personal health and happiness of the President as well as for the continued progress and prosperity of the people of Venezuela, says a press release issued by the Permanent Mission of Nepal to the UN.
Ambassador Bhattarai also conveyed the best wishes and greetings of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal to the President, Government and the people of Venezuela. While receiving the letters of credence, President Maduro felicitated Ambassador Bhattarai for being appointed as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to Venezuela.
The President extended his best wishes for the personal health and happiness of Nepali President Bhandari as well as for the continued peace, progress and prosperity of the people of Nepal.
Venezuelan President Maduro also expressed his desire to further strengthen the existing bilateral relations between the two countries. Minister for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Delcy Rodriguage, as well as Deputy Foreign Ministers and Vice Ministers responsible for different geographical regions were present during the ceremony.
Prior to the ceremony at Presidential Palace, copies of the credentials were received by Deputy Foreign Minister of Venezuela, Alexander Yanez, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. While welcoming Ambassador Bhattarai, the Deputy Foreign Minister assured him of full support and cooperation from the Government of Venezuela in discharging his duties. On the occasion, matters relating to bilateral interest and ways to further promote Nepal-Venezuela relations were discussed, added the press release.
Minister Counsellor Ghana Shyam Lamsal was present as the part of the Ambassador’s team at the meeting as well as at the ceremony. Ambassador Bhattarai was among five non-residential ambassadors who presented their credentials in a single ceremony on Monday. Nepal and Venezuela established bilateral diplomatic relations on 26 April 1987 and have been working closely at various multilateral forums as members of the United Nations, Group of 77 and Non-Aligned Movement. Venezuela is hosting XVII Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Margarita Island later this month. It is currently also a member of the United Nations Security Council. RSS
