Migrant worker Dolma comes in contact after five years at large



Kathmandu, Sept. 15: As the National News Agency (RSS) carried out a news story a week ago about Dolma Tamang, a missing migrant worker from Sindhupalchowk, working in Kuwait, has arrived at home after five years.
Dolma’s mother Chheku confirmed the homecoming of her daughter and expressed pleasure after the reunion.
RSS had made and disseminated a news story of Tamang on 6 September about her unknown whereabouts for five years. Tamang is a permanent resident of Chautara Sangachowkgadhi municipality and had gone to Kuwait in 2068 BS.
Dolma had reached the destination after she was lured of good income with better job opportunity.
“I feel the nights are the days for me from today,” Chheku shared her happiness with RSS over phone, adding that there was no limit of happiness after her reunion with the daughter.
She also shared her plan of throwing a party on Saturday to share the happiness of daughter’s homecoming.
Dolma was in contact with her family members for a year after her departure to Kuwait but later she remained out of contact for regular five years.
“Daughter says she was jailed and sent home by keeping in a plane. I will elicit more from her what really had happened. We are happy as she is back,” Chheku added.
A sixth grader Dolma had taken her citizenship certificate and flown to Kuwait by forging her date of birth in documents though she was a minor. She had paid Rs 45,000 to fly abroad.
It is said that Karma Lama of Panchkharka and Prakash Lama of Batase in Sindhupalchowk had ‘helped’ for her journey to Kuwait.
