Govt. change hampers development: Chief Secretary Dr Subedi

Kathmandu, Sept 9: Chief Secretary Dr Somlal Subedi has said frequent government change in the country has hampered the progress on development endeavors.
Taking part in ‘an honour and fellowship distribution programme’, organised here by the Former Employees Service Council, on Friday, the Chief Secretary said political instability has prevented the government reaching out to the people with development programmes.
“We are working with three governments in a year,” he said, adding that development efforts at local level have got affected due to the absence of people’s representatives there for around two decades.
Also speaking on the occasion, Secretary at the Ministry of General Administration Purna Chandra Bhattarai called on civil servants to prove them as true guards of the nation.
Former secretaries Ishwarilal Shrestha and Sachchidananda Shreevastav, retired under-secretaries Shanta Prabha Dhaubhadel and Bal Bahadur Pariyar and retired section officer Chiranjibi Kumar Shrestha were honoured on the occasion.
Likewise, the Shovakant Nepal Memorial Talent Award instituted by the Council was presented to Asmita Khanal from Ilam. The award carries a purse of Rs 15,000.
Sonika Shrestha was honoured with the Padhmahira Former Employees Service Award that is given to a child passing the School Leaving Certificate (SLC) exams with the highest marks among the children of civil service employees. RSS
