New law to be introduced: Minister Bohara

Kathmandu, Sept 17: Minister for Supplies, Deepak Bohara, has said that a new law is to be formulated for punishment along with fine against those selling inedible goods and selling goods in high price.
Inaugurating the ‘price list banner’ of the food stuffs kept by the Nepal Retailers Association at Ason targeting the upcoming festivals, Minister Bohara said a new law with a provision of a fine between one million rupees to two million rupees and 10 years of imprisonment against those who sells inedible goods and those selling food stuff in high price was being introduced. “The existing law is insufficient. We are going to introduce a new law along with penalty and imprisonment.”
The Supplies Minister said that price hike during festivals will be discouraged. He said, “Inform us if somebody is found involved in price hike and we will take action against him/her.”
Price of goods would be determined as per the scientific manner for the uniformity of price even after festival, added Minister Bohara.
Stating that small-scale businessmen are the most powerful to stop price hike, he said small-scale businessmen sustain the economy of the country. RSS
