Three killed, huge properties damaged in rain-induced disasters

Baglung. Three persons from a same family were killed in a landslide occurred in the district owing to heavy rainfall last night.

District Police Office informed that those killed in the landslide were Bishnu Bahadur Chhetri, 40, his wife Bisnu Maya Chhetri, 30, and six-month old daughter Soniya from Lurung village of Bareng Rural Municipality in the district.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Bishworaj Singh Thapa said the landslide was occurred in the night. The family of the victims was provided relief amount by a team led by Chief District Officer, Bed Prasad Kharel, on Tuesday.
Kharel informed that the family was given relief amount on behalf of the State, reaching the site. The dead bodies were handed to the concerned family after conducting postmortem.
Various other villages in the district witnessed landslides and flooding. Local Brahmakot Primary School at Hugdisir was damaged by landslide.
Most of the rural roads are damaged by the landslides occurred in various places. Traffic on Mid-hill Highway and Kaligandaki Corridor has been badly affected with the obstruction and damages caused by the landslides.
Galkot and southern belt of the district suffered huge loss of properties. District Police Office informed that detailed information about the damages is yet to be received.
Hundred ropanis of land have been swept away the Hugdi river, said a local Prakash Chhantyal.
Landslides have displaced many households.
