Kathmandu, Sept 19: Nepal Transport Democratic Workers Foundation on Sunday put forth a host of demands which included scrapping the registration of the motorbikes and old vehicles that have been on the road for the past 20 years.
At a press conference held here, the transport workers called on the media fraternity to not present the taxi drivers as frauds by spreading a veil of illusion over the masses.
They have appealed to the traffic police to not pressurize the taxi drivers to use the metre system, and demanded availability of parking spaces and scrapping the new provision for subjecting the lane violators a fine ranging from Rs 500 to 1500.
Foundation Coordinator, Bharat Gurung, accused the traffic police of unnecessary harassment and demanded a provision barring a taxi owner from keeping more than five taxis. The Foundation has warned of launching a strike if their demands are not addressed. RSS
