Spirit of Peace is embraced more by those experienced war: PM Dahal

Kathmandu, Oct 2: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has argued that the spirit of peace is internalized more by those who came to peace after going through a war, implicitly mentioning that his party was well aware of peace than any other political party in Nepal.
During a programme organized by Mahendra Narayan Nidhi Memorial Foundation on the occasion of the International Day of Non Violence (the birth day of Mahatma Gandhi) in the capital city on Sunday, PM Dahal said although Mahatma Gandhi brought social change through non-violence, the violence waged in politics based on national needs was to result in peace.
“The writers and journalists should make correct anlysis of the efforts the political parties made for the national achievements,” he said, recalling the peace efforts he made along with the Late GP Koirala after signing the 12-point understanding, and the peace process.
The present need is to make the country affairs stable by broadening the ‘track of peace’ paved by him and GP Koirala jointly, he underscored.

Moreover, he said broader acceptability of constitution was imperative to stabilize peace and implement constitution effectively. “Nepal has made a new exercise- the blend of Gandhism and Maoism,” he claimed.
Dahal’s book Mero Patrakarita (The Journalism I Did) Released
On the occasion, PM Dahal released a book, Mero Patrakarita (The Journalism I Did) penned by senior journalist Purushottam Dahal.
The book relates journalist Dahal’s experiences in journalism- the hardships, challenges and achievements and the society seen through a reporters’ lense.
During the programme, Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Bimalendra Nidhi said only non-violence could take the country towards prosperity. Peaceful politics is more durable means for development, he added.
Also speaking on the occasion, former Vice-Chairman of National Planning Commission, Dr Govinda Raj Pokhrel, senior journalists Kishor Nepal and Homnath Dahal, NC leader Pushpa Bhusal underlined the need of peace in South Asia and in the entire world.
