Human Organ Transplant Centre spreads wings launching cardiac services

Bhaktapur, Oct 18: The Human Organ Transplant Centre, Bhaktapur has launched treatment facilities for heart diseases from today.
The centre has started the new services with a target of starting the heart transplant facility within the next five years, centre Chief Dr Pukar Chandra Shrestha said. The availability of heart disease treatment at the centre is expected to prove a great relief for the patients of Bhaktapur and others districts east to it, he argued. Facilities ranging from heart checkup to surgery are now available in the centre.
A catheterization laboratory (cathe lab) has been established with a grant assistance of Rs 70 million and other required instruments worth Rs 120 million were purchased to start the heart disease services, according to centre Dr Suwarna Tuladhar. The centre has sufficient human resources including a cardiologists team to render the services to the needy, he said. However, the heart surgery will be available only from the second week of November.
The centre is organising a free heart checkup camp on coming Wednesday. Patients visiting the camp will be given 50 per cent discount on ECG, ECHO and other lab tests fees. RSS
