Melamchi Drinking Water in Kathmandu before coming Dashain

Kathmandu, Nov 17: The construction of drinking water processing centre has neared completion- only five percent left- now. The centre is being set up for bringing the drinking water from Melamchi River of Sindhupalchwok district to the Kathmandu Valley.
The Development Committee of the Legislature-Parliament observed such progress in the construction under the Melamchi Drinking Water Project during its monitoring on Thursday. The Committee also inspected the pipes being laid and the reservoir set up for the water supply in the Valley.
Committee Chairman Rabindra Adhikari garnered the information about the progress in the construction. The team was assured that the Melamchi water would gush in the Kathmandu Valley before coming Dashain, reasoning most of the activities have completed under the project.
The construction of processing centre completes before this Fagun; while 419 km out of 670 km pipes were laid for the water supply, said Ramakant Duwadi, deputy executive director of Melamchi Drinking Water Project. RSS
