Committee directs govt. to bring laws needed to hold local election

Kathmandu, Aug 31: The Legislature-parliament’s development committee has directed the government to immediately present the bills needed to hold elections of the local bodies.
The committee meeting today directed the government, Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Minister, and the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs to prepare the laws necessary to hold local body election.
Committee Chairman Rabindra Adhikari said the local bodies should be delineated scientifically and taken into the implementation quickly. Discussion was held on the implementation status of the committee’s directions and the mobilization of money under constituency infrastructure development programme.
The committee concluded that the implementation of its directive was satisfactory, and urged all concerned to strictly abide by its directions.
The concerned ministry has been directed to formulate a regulation to ease the operation of the constituency development programme. RSS
