Oli will overtake the court to pronounce the verdict

Kathmandu. The writ petitions filed against the dissolution of the House of Representatives are pending in the Supreme Court. But even before the court decides on the writ, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has challenged the jurisdiction of an independent court, claiming that the House of Representatives cannot be restored.

The issue is last Wednesday. On Wednesday, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed a gathering of his party’s CPN (Maoist) Far-Western cadres at the provincial level.

Doesn’t the country’s chief executive’s claim interfere with the jurisdiction of an independent judiciary? The question naturally arises.
Constitutionalist Vipin Adhikari argues that it is not good for the Prime Minister to make such a statement on the issue under consideration in the Supreme Court. “The prime minister is the main respondent to the writ petitions against the dissolution of the House of Representatives,” he said.

He said that it was wrong to say that the House of Representatives could not be reconstituted until the issue was resolved as there was a constitutional question regarding the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the Supreme Court would explain the constitutional question.

He clarified that such comments should not be made in the court on behalf of the state or political parties. “No one has expressed their concerns in a way that would diminish the importance of the court’s decision-making process,” he said.
