UML’s mission not changed: leader Pokharel

Sindhulimadhi, Aug 31: CPN (UML) General Secretary Ishwor Pokharel, has said although a partner of the alliance the party had left it, party’s mission has not changed.
Inaugurating the central committee meeting of the Press Chautari Nepal here Wednesday, General Secretary Pokharel said the CPN (UML) would be responsible to address the people’s demands even by remaining in the opposition as nationalism, sovereignty, economic development and prosperity of the country fell under party’s mission. The party would be mobilized to make the people aware about these issues, as it is the matter of entire nation, not only of the CPN (UML), he added.
On the occasion, Secretary Gokarna Bista said that the party would advance in a way that it would take a lead in the national politics in line with the decisions of the Oli-led government.
Demanding election of all three-levels in time as per the new constitution, another Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai said the attempts of pushing the country into chaos by unnecessarily amending the constitution should be foiled.
Central committee member Surya Thapa wished that the meeting would be successful to make the Press Chautari Nepal more professional and ideologically strong.
Likewise, President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Dr Mahendra Bista said that pressure should be exerted in implementing the increased minimum remuneration of working journalists.
On the occasion, senior journalist Kundan Aryal presented a working paper on ‘Role of Media in building democratic culture’.
Chautari Chairman Ganesh Basnet expressed the commitment that the organisation would be taken ahead honing professional skills and setting clear ideology.
The second full meeting of the Press Chaitari will discuss various agendas including action plan, work division among office bearers for three-year term. RSS
