Call to clearly define community hospital

Kathmandu, Sept 17: Concerned stakeholders have stressed the need for clearly defining community hospitals.
At the first national convention of the Community Hospital Association, Nepal held in the Capital on Saturday, they also called for categorising community, cooperative and non-profitable hospitals.
Speaking at the gathering, Under-secretary at the Ministry of Health Lilaraj Poudel admitted that the ministry is yet to categorise hospitals based on the set standards, calling for the need to create a clear base for the same.
The directives formulated to manage subsidy for community hospitals are not complete as well, he added.
“We have made directives to manage subsidy for community hospitals. So far 23 community hospitals have availed of the facility. Now a standard should be set identifying the area where the hospitals are supposed to spend the received subsidy,” he said.
A total of 130 representatives from 32 community hospitals from across the country are taking part in the convention. RSS
