Baitadi, Nov 21: Five far-western districts have been listed in the top 10 best districts under a work execution evaluation carried out by the Ministry of Health.
The districts names were made public during a national review seminar of fiscal year 2015-16 based on points accumulated from 35 separate indicators prepared by an evaluation team from the health sector.
As part of the work execution evaluation, far-western district of Achham has been declared the best with 92.37 points. Baitadi, another far-western district, has garnered 90.41 points to take up the third position. Baitadi had been on fourth position in the previous health evaluation index.
Baitadi had been making strides in its regular progress in the health sector and now has been successful to climb a notch further up, District Hospital Baitadi’s Chief, Dr Gun Raj Awasthi said.
“The evaluation was carried out on basis of 35 indicators of the health sector including vaccine administration service, secure motherhood, institutional delivery, prenatal care check up, tuberculosis, settlement of amount in arrears, points from regional health centre and district’s annual report,” Awasthi added.
As per the data made public, Bajhang district of the far-western region has accumulated 89.03 points to secure fourth position while Doti was placed in the fifth position with 88.22 points. Likewise, one of the remotest districts of far-western region, Bajura, has made it to sixth position with 88.00 points under its belt.
The performances of the far-western districts have been exemplary as compared to the rest of the country in the past three years’ evaluation. The far-west is geographically remote and lags behind in terms of other development indicators, despite which it has been able to maintain a consistent and outstanding status in the health sector.
Meanwhile, Manang district has dropped to the bottom with 57.67 points under the work execution evaluation. RSS
