Kathmandu, Dec 15: Minister for Information and Communications Surendra Kumar Karki has urged the government media to focus on disseminating to the public the government’s plan and priorities, rather than running after sensational news reporting.
In a meeting with Executive Heads and News Chief of government media at the Ministry on Thursday, Minister Karki suggested them to cover the news ignored by the private media houses about agriculture, sufferings of rural women, illiteracy and other issues of public concern. “We cannot leave the responsibility of everything with the private sector, because the state does not have sufficient monitoring mechanism. There has been lot of divisive reporting. Lets come together to raise issues of common concern. All the media should internalize this duty”.
He also assured the participants to address the policy problems and difficulties of their respective agencies provided they are brought to the forefront.
On a different note, he said the civil servants involved in trade union movement should not be much concerned about who is in the government. “If the leaders themselves shun their duties then the employees alone cannot save a political party or a communist party movement,” he said.
Unstable politics and labour dispute obstructs development. It was investment friendly environment that propelled economic prosperity of neighbouring China, and Gujrat of India surpassed West Bengal. RSS
