State can’t offer allowance to all seekers, Minister Koirala

Bhaktapur, July 29: Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare Asha Koirala has said that the government cannot dole out allowances to all the seekers.
At a programme organized in Bhaktapur today, Minister Koirala said that the government cannot give allowances to all by reducing the capital budget. “The government is giving social security allowance to the senior citizens. Now, different groups have been seeking allowance including unemployment allowance. The capital expenditure will finish if all the demanders were provided with allowance from the state coffer. This will hinder the country’s development,” she said.
Pointing that the state should take responsibility of protection of the senior citizens, Minister Koirala made it clear that the government cannot increase the allowance to the senior citizens by two/three folds.
On the occasion, people’s representatives and journalists of Bhaktapur were felicitated.
