Kathmandu, Dec 4: Human rights activists attending a discussion programme organized on the occasion of the 25th International Day of Persons with Disabilities here Sunday have demanded the effective implementation of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
At the programme jointly organized by the Human Rights and Peace Society and Nepal Disabled Human Rights Center, they also pressed for providing smart card for the differently-abled ones in the public transports which would offer them heavy discounts on fares.
Society’s Founding President Krishna Pahadi spoke of the need for the formulation of new laws and revisal of the existing ones to secure the rights of the people living with disabilities as mandated by the new constitution.
Similarly, Nepal Disabled Women Association Chairperson Nirmala Dhital stressed on equal participation of people with disabilities in every state organ. RSS
