Dhangadi, Dec 21: Madhesi Janadhikar Forum (Democratic) central member, Laxman Tharu, who is serving a sentence at the Kailali prison, has resigned from general membership of the party.
Tharu gave his resignation from inside the prison accusing the party leadership of negligence towards his condition. Speaking to the National News Agency (RSS), Tharu expressed his intent on leading an independent life. The resignation letter was sent to the party’s central office through a fax machine.
Tharu along with 25 others are spending time at the Kailai prison in accusation of involvement in the Tikapur incident 17 months ago, during which a mob lynched eight police officials including a Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) and a juvenile using domestic weapons.
