Kathmandu, Sept 20: The meeting of the Social Justice and Human Rights Committee under the Legislature-Parliament today has called Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, Ministry of Home Affairs, Nepal Police and Hotel Soltee for discussions.
They were called to hold discussions over the complaints filed by the employees of Casino Nepal and Nepal Recreation Centre.
The committee President Sushil Kumar Shrestha stated that these concerned bodies were called for discussions as per the report submitted by the sub-committee, formed to probe in this connection.
Similarly, the committee has directed the government to arrest the absconding enterpriser Rakesh Badwa of the Casino Nepal. The casino operated at the premises of Hotel Soltee has been closed since 2069 Shrawan. With this, over 1,000 employees have become jobless. The casino was closed due to a dispute between R D Tatal and Rakesh Badwa, it is learnt.
The employees had filed the complaints to the committee expecting to initiate for the arrangement of their salary.
The committee had formed a sub-committee under the convenorship of Nar Bahadur Thapa. The sub-committee comprises Ongdi Sherpa, Kamala Dong, Kaushar Sah and Khadka Bahadur Basyal.
The report reads that the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation should address the problems surfaced in the casino sector.
Speaking in the meeting, the committee member Ashta Laxmi Shakya urged the government to sort out the problems.
Lawmakers, Kamala Dong, Usha Yadav and Kamala Kumari Ghimire have suggested the committee to take initiations after analyzing the report and receiving the government’s views in this regard. RSS –
