DPHO, Chitwan urges to adopt precaution to stop dengue infection

Ratnanagar (Chitwan), July 18: The district public health office has urged all to adopt precaution as dengue was found spreading in the district.
It is now established as one of the most important arboviral infections in Tarai districts mostly in Chitwan. It is caused by any one of the four related viruses transmitted by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes.
An examination of blood samples showed that as many as 693 households in Ratnanagar and Khairahani in the district were found infected with dengue.
According to vector controller Ram KC, mosquito destroying campaign was launched in the areas since July 2 to 4, and 693 households were found infected with dengue.
The campaign was launched in 8,797 houses in the areas.
The office has further urged all not to let water collect in drains and pits near their homes and clear drainage and other places nearby.
A volunteer Gyanu Wagle of Ratnanagar said that larva and pupa of mosquito were found in the municipality area. The campaign was launched as preparedness to control dengue as dengue disease had spread in Ratnanagar Municipality last year.
Doctors have urged the locals to keep their areas clean. The disease was found on 85 people in the district in the fiscal year 2015/16 and a person lost his life due to this.
Similarly, out of 687 people suffered from the disease in the fiscal year 2016/17, a person died from the disease.
